Extended power cut tests our powers of ingenuity

Extended power cut jigsaw

When the power went down on Monday around 11am and looked set to continue for several hours, we took evasive manoeuvres to minimise the disruption to our customers and keep the orders leaving the warehouse.

Like sunflowers following the sun, we had to find light and heat, not to mention electricity, Wi-Fi and, of course, coffee! Thankfully, our brilliant neighbours W & H Peacock came to our rescue by offering us the use of their on-site café.

Armed with laptops, smart phones and printers, we hotfooted 500 yards across the road to set up our makeshift office in their well-appointed restaurant. After some IT wizardry, we were able to take sales calls, receive emails and process urgent orders. We assigned ‘runners’ to speed those printed orders back to our warehouse, ready for picking and packing. Relying on emergency lighting powered by back-up generator, everyone mucked in to get the orders out on time. We worked until it became too dark to continue safely.

The good news is that power came back on around 6pm that evening and we were well on our way to catching up on any back log by the following day. It just goes to show that, despite the odds, you can rely on Window Ware to fulfil your hardware orders without fail because we understand our customers need reliable supplies for uninterrupted business productivity.

We’d like to express our gratitude to W & H Peacock for so generously letting us use their facilities during the blackout, and thank our customers for their patience and understanding despite the unexpected downtime.
